Steve Royle is a fantastic Comedian, Actor, Juggler, Writer, Regular Saturday Presenter on BBC Radio Lancashire & most recently Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights Live
He has recently completed another enjoyable few months as a Special Guest on Dave Spikey's Living The Dream Tour, and even sold out his first Steve Royle Comedy Extravaganza show at the Oldham Coliseum Theatre in March. Furthermore, he is now a regular Television warm-up for programmes such as A Question Of Sport and Stars In Their Eyes and Sunday Night at The London Palladium
Last year saw Steve's stand-up work go ballistic. He is a regular headline act at The Comedy Store and other alternative venues, performed alongside Steve Coogan & Peter Kay at the Apollo Theatre Manchester, and landed a role in channel Max & Paddy's Road To Nowhere. In addition, he appeared in The Laughter Show at the North Pier Blackpool with more traditional comics Mick Miller, Roy Walker, & Duncan Norvelle. He also appeared on Granada Programmes Behind The Scene and That's Entertainment (with Cannon and Ball) and was voted Entertainer of the Year at the inaugural Red Rose Awards.
During the last few years Steve has supported Peter Kay many times and had a part in the very successful TV comedy, Phoenix Nights. Other television appearances include Stand-up Britain, Give Your Mate A Break, The Afternoon Show, Talk Of The North, a Real Radio advert, a straight acting role in The Things You Do For Love, and despite being one of the North West's healthiest males, a medical insurance commercial for Medicash!
He has toured with Dave Spikey on his Overnight Success tour, performed with the cast of Phoenix Nights and Badly Drawn Boy to over 5 thousand people at the Europa Festival in Manchester, and up until last year, performed every summer as Mad Edgar (a jester character he first invented 10 years ago, the popularity of which has resulted in over 2000 Crazy Juggling Shows at Camelot Theme Park.
Steve is also co-founder of a massively successful character comedy group. which has had three successful performances at The Lowry Theatre, Salford, with a fourth coming soon. They have taken the Edinburgh Festival Fringe by storm with sell out shows and rave reviews for two years running. They won the Best Comedy Show award at The Brighton Fringe Festival 2005 and were runners-up in the best touring show category at the Manchester Comedy Awards 2004.
In 2002 Steve performed at the World Cup Finals in Japan where he entertained at various festivals as part of a comedy group, proving that he can even bridge the language barrier when it comes to entertaining!
In 2001 he was resident at The World Famous Blackpool Tower and was nominated as Best Newcomer at the Leisure Parcs awards. The same year he appeared in two summer season shows with Mick Miller at The Winter Gardens and Bernie Clifton and The Bachelors at The North Pier. Furthermore, he has spent two winters aboard cruise ships and has appeared in Pantomime every Christmas for the last 9 years.
